My first photography gig!
In December 2019 I was paid by the Swinburne University of Technology’s Faculty of Science Engineering Technology to do photography at their annual staff training and awards day.
I started learning photography earlier in 2019 in my Media Content Creation subject, and got my own DSLR that June. For this gig I used my second hand Canon 60D with two standard variable zoom lenses.
I gained a lot from this opportunity. It was a challenging though. It was a full day event, running for 8 hours which was exhausting. The length and diversity of the activities in the event meant I took many photos, leading to a long post-production process. I took 800+ photos and managed to whittle them down to 130 to hand over to the client. Of course, as an amateur photographer many shots require some post-production touch ups in Adobe Lightroom.
