Aurecon – Employer Brand Internship

I was employed as a Marketing & Communications Intern – Employer Brand at Aurecon from October 2021 to June 2022. Initially planned to end in February, my paid, full-time casual position was extended until the end of the financial year. The main project I worked on was the Australia and New Zealand Graduate Programme recruitment campaign from February to April. Additionally, I worked on business as usual employer brand content, and assisted in the planning of the upcoming intern and mid-career campaigns.

  • Created and executed the social media strategy for the grad campaign across FB, IG, LI and Twitter. This included both organic and paid content.
  • Planned video content including storyboarding, scripting, and posting.
  • Visual reporting on graduate campaign including social media analytics.
  • Organising and overseeing a successful Instagram live schedule – from a marketing perspective and technically.
  • Dealing with both the internal creative team and and external agency to develop graduate assets.
  • Developed comprehensive career fair briefing packages for the recruitment team at online and in-person events. I also helped coordinate careers fairs materials, and attended an event at the University of Melbourne.
  • Conducted a comprehensive competitor analysis on employer rating sites Glassdoor and Seek
Attending the Melbourne University Infrastructure Engineering Night, March 2022

Graduate Campaign Hero Video (NZ Version)

social MediA

I planned a variety of social media content including organic and paid campaign content, general employer brand content, and copy content for other organisations to post on social media (such as university clubs).

Organic posts were shared to Aurecon’s global social media channels. I maintained the balance between consistency with the overall brand voice and the more playful tone of the grad campaign.

I crafted copy and content tailored to each platform to maximise engagement. For instance, using authentic visuals, short copy, and multiple hashtags on Instagram.

Below is an example of some of my posts:

Video Content

As Aurecon is a large organisation with a dedicated brand and content creation team, there wasn’t any opportunity to do video editing myself. However I had plenty to do in the video content planning process.

Content:

  • Grad campaign hero video, with a variety of different versions
  • Grad ambassador videos
  • Trialled reels content from Instagram Lives and ambassador videos

Tasks included:

  • Identifying and coordinating talent/employees for shoots
  • Scripting interview questions, providing runsheets and video direction
  • Creating storyboards for editing
  • Planning assets to be included. For example, subtitles, lower thirds, outros
One of the videos posted across the socials. Another was used in paid advertising, and another was not posted due to the talent leaving the organisation.
